Winners of the 10th Annual R+D+I Award in the University Field by the Algeciras Technological Campus Foundation
Our CICERONE project has been awarded the 10th Annual R+D+I Award in the University Field by the Algeciras Technological Campus Foundation (@fctalgeciras). This initiative is funded by the Regional Ministry of University, Research, and Innovation of the Regional Government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía), which annually promotes innovative projects and supports knowledge transfer across the business, entrepreneurial, and academic sectors.
A total of 26 projects were submitted to this call, all aligned with the strategic priorities of the Smart Specialization Strategy for Sustainability in Andalusia 2021–2027 (S4 Andalucía). The proposals were evaluated by a committee composed of 12 representatives from key provincial institutions and organizations, who assessed each project based on criteria set out in the terms of the call, including scope, level of innovation, societal added value, and technical and economic feasibility.
This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire research team involved. It further strengthens our commitment to advancing research and innovation that delivers a positive impact on human health and well-being.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the FCTA for its vital role in fostering and developing innovative projects throughout the province of Cádiz, and for recognizing the impact of our work.

Premio al mejor paper predoctoral en el congreso AiHealth 2026
Applied clinical research in digital health developed at CICERONE has received new recognition. Our predoctoral researcher, Patricia Camacho Magriñán, was awarded the Best Student Paper Award at the 2026 edition of the international AiHealth conference—the international forum on the application of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in medicine—held in Lesbos, Greece, on July 27–29, 2026.
The award-winning paper, titled “A Longitudinal Multivariate Assessment of Acoustic and Motor Biomarkers in COPD Telehealth,” explores continuous remote monitoring for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). By combining and performing longitudinal multivariate evaluations of acoustic biomarkers (voice and breathing), actigraphy, and fine motor control, the study demonstrates how telehealth can anticipate crises and exacerbations, ultimately improving the quality of life for individuals living with this respiratory condition.
This award recognizes not only the scientific and methodological rigor of the research, but also its strongly interdisciplinary nature and its direct applicability within the healthcare system. The paper is the result of a robust research and clinical collaboration co-authored by Patricia Camacho Magriñán alongside Diego Sales Lérida, Antonio León Jiménez, Alejandro Lara Doña, Eva Vázquez Gandullo, Alfonso Marín Andreu, Aurelio Arnedillo Muñoz, and Daniel Sánchez Morillo.
This recognition at AiHealth 2026 reinforces the value of predoctoral research conducted at CICERONE in transforming data into practical diagnostic and preventive tools, highlighting the vital role of young talent in driving advancements in digital health.
